Pagan/Wiccan Holidays and Observances

Individuals may require time away from campus for travel and observance.

This list of celebrations is common to many forms of paganism but is not exhaustive. There may be additional celebrations based on cultural influences and local customs.


Beltane (May Day) — A high holy day commemorating the Sacred Marriage of Goddess and God.


Imbolc (Candlemas) — A festival marking the beginning of spring.


Litha (Summer Solstice) — The longest day of the year.


Lughnasadh (Lammas) — The first of three harvest festivals.


Mabon (Autumnal Equinox) — The second of three harvest festivals. A celebration of when the day and night are of equal duration, marking the start of the season of darkness.


Ostara (Vernal Equinox) — A celebration of when the day and night are of equal duration, marking the start of the season of light.


Samhain — (pronounced 'sow'inn') The final of three harvest festivals, celebrating the Feast of the Dead and commemorating those who have died.


Yule (Winter Solstice) — The longest night of the year.
