Copyright Clearance

According to Minnesota State Procedure 3.27.1 Copyright Clearance, it is the responsibility of the individual to clear copyright of materials before use. This could mean working through the fair use four factor test, reviewing a TEACH Act checklist, obtaining permission from the copyright holder, using an open or licensed work, using works in the public domain, etc.

The Copyright Center can provide guidance on these procedures.
