Library Procedures for pickup and returns

Though the Livingston Lord Library is now open to the public. However, access to our collections is limited to the 1st and 2nd floors.

Pickup Procedures for Physical Items

Picking up library items:

  • For library materials located on the 3rd and 4th floors, you will need to use the instructions below to put a Hold on the item(s) you need.
  • Once you have received an email letting you know your item(s) are available, you will pick up your materials at the Circulation Desk.
  • Please be sure to wear a mask when at the Circulation Desk.

To request a physical book, complete journal, or DVD/CD held by the library: 

Navigate to www.mnstate.edu/library, and click on the My Account link to log in to your library account using your StarID and password.  

  • Click New Search at the top of the page, and search for the title you want. Here you will also be able to see if the item is available and in what format. 
    • Choose MSUM Library Catalog to limit your search to items held by the MSUM Library.
  • Click the title of the item, and then under Get It, click By Placing a Hold (see example below)
  • Click the calendar icon to select the date you would like to pick your item up, then click Send Request.
  • You will receive an email when your item(s) is/are ready for pickup.

Please let us know when you will be available to pick it up.  

  • You will receive an email when your items have been retrieved and are ready for pickup. 
  • If you simply need an article from a journal the MSUM Library holds, we are still providing copying services. You may use the Interlibrary Loan form to request specific articles and they will be sent as a PDF attachment directly to your email.
