MSUM recently acquired a subscription to the premiere research and reference management service, RefWorks. It gives students and faculty a tool that enables a more efficient and reliable process for producing research papers, including theses and dissertations. After you set up a RefWorks account, which is free, you will want to log in to RefWorks every time you are doing online research. It connects with online catalogs and databases and allows you to save your research results and sources and also to turn those sources into properly cited lists. Consult the helpful RefWorks Libguide.
Step One: Sign up for a RefWorks account.
Step Two: Sign into RefWorks.
Step Three: Access any library database, Google, online catalog, Dragon OneSearch, etc. Most of these tools allow you to export your search results or specific sources into RefWorks, where you can then compile Works Cited/Bibliographies/Reference Lists and also save your results for later. It is an incredible tool for scholars. Reminder that before you do this, please log in to our proxy server via the Off Campus button on the library web site. Your log in is your Star ID and password.
Our library has a useful RefWorks Libguide.
Proquest has a Library Guide to help: Introduction to RefWorks.
