Writing and Research in Your Discipline
For this project, I want you to complete academic research into your field, and demonstrate that you know how to do a few things in particular. First, that you know how to do formal academic research; second, that you know how to integrate outside resources into your writing; third, that you can identify genre conventions for writing related to your field.
To do this, I’d like you to look through MSUM’s databases and find at least 3-5 total academic articles or books related to your field, and break down what writing looks like in your academic field. Then, write a paper that explains what the genre conventions for each article/book are, and how/why they fit into your field.
