Professional counseling journals contain original research by researchers and practicing counselors. You can learn who in your field is doing the kind of research that interests you and where they work in case you want to reach out to them.
Many professional counseling journals are behind a paywall. The library can help you get past that hurdle. Start by looking for your desired topic in one of the subject databases in the column to the right. In many cases, full-text is offered.
When there is no full-text, click on our "inter-library loan" link to let us know what source you want us to borrow from other libraries. Inter-library loans take a few days and articles are sent to your email.
Here are some suggested topics to consider.
* HIPPA (law for health privacy)
* FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act)
* Conflict of Interest
* Tests in counseling
* Multicultural counseling
* Gender identity
* End of life counseling
* Genetic counseling
* Substance use
