ASHA's Evidence Maps
Evidence maps are intended to provide clinicians, researchers, clients, and caregivers with tools and guidance to engage in evidence-based decision making. These maps highlight the importance of the three components of evidence-based practice (EBP). External Scientific Evidence, Clinical Expertise/Expert Opinion, and Client/Patient/Caregiver Perspectives.
ASHA/N-CEP Evidence-Based Systematic Reviews
ASHA's National Center for Evidence-Based Practice in Communication Disorders (N-CEP) works with ASHA members to conduct numerous evidence-based systematic reviews (EBSRs) annually. Systematic reviews form the basis for evidence-based clinical practice guidelines. They are formal assessments of the body of scientific evidence related to a clinical question, and describe the extent to which various diagnostic or treatment approaches are supported by the evidence, but stop short of making specific recommendations for clinical practice.

They are useful in helping clinicians make treatment decisions in that, when done properly, they have pulled together and in a systematic way characterized the available evidence on a clinical question. These reviews can be an important and time-saving resource for clinicians wishing to incorporate evidence into their clinical decision-making. Below are the EBSRs that have been completed by N-CEP and those that are in progress.

Audiology Research is an international, peer-reviewed, open access Journal designed to be a place where the readers will quickly and clearly find up-to-date and high-quality information related to the audiology field in a broad sense, including the study, early detection, diagnosis and treatment of all conditions of hearing impairment and audiological disorders.

Compendium of EBP Guidelines and Systematic Reviews
In the summer of 2005, staff of ASHA's National Center for Evidence-Based Practice in Communication Disorders (N-CEP) embarked upon a research project to identify and obtain clinical practice guidelines from all over the world related to audiology and/or speech-language pathology. As noted elsewhere on this site, clinical practice guidelines, when tied directly to a systematic review of scientific evidence, can be an invaluable tool in helping clinicians to make the best decisions with and for their clients. These guidelines and reviews are presented for informational purposes only, and their inclusion does not imply ASHA endorsement of or agreement with any particular conclusions or recommendations.
