Here is an example of how to search for a journal and specify it is peer reviewed/scholarly:

1. Select a database, such as ERIC, from the drop down alphabetical menu on the library web site, or within this Libguide web page:

2. Using an Advanced Search, after exploring the Thesaurus and refining your search terms, click the box "Peer Reviewed":

Peer Reviewed Article - What is It?

An article in a peer reviewed journal is:

  • Scholarly
  • Academic
  • Reviewed by an editorial board
  • Reviewed by people in the specific field
  • Often comes out in a quarterly or biannual publication
